Are there Senior Discounts for Eurailpasses or select passes? There seem to be senior rates for people over 60 years of age for single tickets?
Not for passes. Depending on where you are going most passes will not pay for themselves. And not all countries treat senior discounts in the same manner.
"There seem to be senior rates for people over 60 years of age for single tickets?" . . . . . ¶ Eurail doesn't sell single tickets, either.
I believe that senior discounts only apply to EU citizens; everytime we've tried to get one and they checked our passports, they declined.
That is true in many parts of Europe but not all. Discounts for over 60 are available to everyone in Spain and in some of the northern European countries also. So..... you always should ask.
Germany does give a senior discount on the Bahn Card (www.bahn.de/i/view/USA/en/prices/germany/bahncard.shtml), but it is generally not cost effective for the two-week vacationer. And, the Bahn Card is an Abonnement, a subscription that rebills every year unless you know how to stop it.
In Spain, persons over 60 can purchase a Tarjeta Dorada for 5,05 euro. This will give significant discounts on the RENFE trains. It does not appear to be limited to EU citizens.
