Eurail Senior 1st Class-Can't make reservations Hamburg to Copenhagen

Need Help! I have been working on this specific reservation for days. Going on 43rd Anniversary trip...Need to go from Hamburg to Copenhagen Saturday, June 17th..Have tried every time slot. Once I get to payment then says none available. Text is : "Reservations recommended" but I can't. Question-Can we travel without reservations on that day? Or should we try to get a reservation once we get there? (I have Osnabruck to Hamburg reserved as I couldn't book Osnabruck to Copenhagen). Thank you!!!

When I try to buy a seat reservation for this train at www.bahn.com, I get a message "Reservation impossible". So check when you get to Germany.

Just wait, there has been a problem with seat reservations between Hamburg and Copenhagen this summer. DSB plans to increase the capacity on the route with new trains, but until they have confirmation that the new trains can be used they are not selling any seat reservations.

Keep checking, Alicia, pursuant to what Badger said. You can travel without reservations but it's not a good idea on that particular route, as it can get very crowded in the summer.

Hi,

Most likely, you would be taking a IC train for the Hamburg to Copenhagen connection. I would get that seat reservation in Hamburg Hbf. Yes, you can board the IC without a reservation. Finding a seat (especially together) may not be easy...just depends.

Just reserve at the station. That is what you are supposed to do when travelling on a Eurail Pass anyway.

Exactly. Since I travel in Germany using a Pass, when I want to reserve, I do that a day or two or the night before, which always means a seat in 2nd class.

Thank you all for your knowledge. We bought our 1st Rail pass 51 years ago and fortunately have spent several years in Europe. I plan and book all of it as much as I can. And now we are less than able; however, we continue to go, enjoy, and are full of gratitude:)
