Eurail Passes 25% off today at RailEurope.com & Eurail.com TIME SENSITIVE

I just pulled the trigger on 2 @ 3 month 1st class global passes for next summer. They were $650 less than when I priced them last month. I had heard they went on sale every once in a while. Apparently today is the 65th birthday celebration. My traveling friends also pulled the trigger today, got the same price as I did.

BTW. Use a Non Foreign Transaction fee card as the charge is in France.

I used the date of my first date I want to start using it. And I have the mobile pass now and it has that date listed on it. But I do think I still need to activate it.

Good Luck, the first class tickets were cheaper than the 2nd class tix were previously.

You will still have to book your travel days and times in advance, and pay for your reserved seats before travel.
Have a great trip!

Yup. No matter what you pay for the pass. I’m just pointing out the great deal today for passes.

There is nothing illegal, immoral, or fattening about Rail Europe - contrary to what many people on this forum believe.

There is nothing illegal, immoral, or fattening about Rail Europe - contrary to what many people on this forum believe.

No one on this thread said there was, but it is undeniable that you pay more through Rail Europe than you do buying direct, or even through the trainline- because of their commission. That money is going into private profit, not into the actual running of the railways.

Also buying through a third party (any 3rd party- even Dodo enterprises of Timbuktu- a made up company name) renders you one step away from the information systems if and when things change, for any reason.

The OP hasn't actually stated where they bought their tickets from, and it is irrelevant in the informational context of this thread.

At least on the Eurail website itself this offer runs for the next week- until 22 October,

Yeah, It was $8 more due to the booking fee on RailEurope. But their app is so much better than what you get from Eurail for finding train routes, I was glad to pay the extra $8, on a $1800 purchase. -Bill

PS. Eurail should charge that fee too, just so they can fix their web & app not synchronizing. If you create a trip on the web, the phone app cannot see it, and vice versa, I wonder if they realize its 2024 and that is just NOT a thing anymore. Everyone that is in business sync's these days, even the guys that aren't selling anything.

Hi,

Thanks for posting.

I got my Global Pass through Eurail Rail, a good deal as a senior pass, 15 days/2 months , 2nd class costing 374 Euro.

With the 25% sale discount and an additional senior discount of 10%, that equals out to 25 Euro per the 15 travel days, a super good deal of 35% total off for riding the TGV and ICE. I have 11 months to activate, which I'll do by the end of May or start of June 2025.

A few night trains (2-3 factored in for next summer's trip) this Pass will be easily paid for and more. Then it doesn't matter at all if all 15 days are not used up by the time the 2 months' duration are up. This summer I had the 15 day Pass and all 15 days were used up....quite easy.

The Eurail passes are on sale again at 25% until December 17, 2024. I just finished using a 30 day period, 7 Travel Day Global Rail Pass.
I only used 6 days and 3 of those days would have been cheaper purchasing the ticket directly when in Portugal. The other 3 days were between Czech Republic, Germany and The Netherlands. I rode the bus a number of times within Europe since no rail seats were available for Pass holders or the trains were not in the network for Pass holders. Also, going across more than a few countries during a trip often required too many transfers, little time between transfers and in some cases including France required self transport to another part of the area to get to the transfer station. My personal preference now is that the Global Pass was usually inconvenient on routes that were frequently traveled, which is many of them. The app to make the reservations and use the pass was awkward from planning the trip, saving it and purchasing seat reservations. I encountered situations when multiple transfers were required on trips and seat reservations were required on some of the trains on the trip and 1 or 2 did not require a seat reservation. I purchased the seat reservations where needed and the train that did not require the seat reservation did not appear in the final trip since there was no purchase. I was told that I could not purchase the trip so I lost money on a seat reservation. I cannot imagine if this pass is useful during peak times of the year - I had problems during low season. Much more occurred when I used the Pass. I will have a different travel strategy if I purchase another Eurail Pass. Eurail sent videos to me to explain it. You know know what that means if videos are needed.

Fantastic....I took advantage of the previous offer of 25% (mentioned above), along with my additional senior 10% discount, the final price was a discount of 35%....better than none at all, placed the order on-line with Eurail, received the paper Pass in less than 2 weeks time.

No problems at all using the Pass over there. I don't use apps, only the Pass in paper form.
