Eurail pass on Deutsche Bahn

Can I use the pass on any ICE train or only the ones listed when I put the journey into the pass planner? I booked a seat through DB but when I put the itinerary in my pass it doesn’t give that train as an option ? I find this confusing. Any ideas?

A German Eurail pass is good on any ICE train. When you say "booked a seat", does that mean you purchased a seat reservation? The beauty of the German Eurail Pass is you do not have to "book" anything. Just have the pass activated for that day and get on the train you want. Seat reservations can be purchased with the app, or at the station Cost is 5.50 EUR for 2nd class, 6.90 EUR for 1st class.

A common problem with the rail planner in the Eurail App is that it is not accurate. Often data is outdated.
If you can't find your train just select another. As long as the route you have activate approximates the route you are actually traveling you are fine.
When you activate a route in the App you are not obtaining a ticket for that train. You are just telling the app that your a going to travel that day, and the app is only interested in what countries you plan to travel in. When the conductor comes and scans your QR code all he sees is "Pass valid today in Germany". He does not even see the trains you selected.

So do not worry to much about it.

Use www.bahn.de (or the app) to plan trips and buy reservations, and do not pay to much attention to getting it right in the Eurail App.
