Eurail/P2P - Confusion

I have so many questions but I'm going to start with what should I purchase: Global, Select, or P2P? I'm flying into London to meet my sister and then out of Frankfurt. My plan is to go from London-Paris-Italy-Switz-Germany. I've read on here it may be beneficial to just buy P2P in Italy and then maybe a 3 day select pass for France, Switz, Germany? I'm just getting confused and a little stressed. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thank You!

First, Eurail passes are not valid in England. Second, a railpass in Italy is most often more expensive than P2P. If you use a Eurail pass for the Eurostar, you will pay an additional 18Euro supplemental fee. Many times, this supplemental fee is 50% of the P2P cost. I suggest P2P in Italy.

For Switzerland, it depends of where you are going. A Eurail pass is fine for much of Switzerland but if you intend to go into the Lauterbrunnen Valley and especially the mountain tops, your Eurail pass will only get you a 25% discount. You pay 75% of the standard fare. A Swiss pass or card is better for the latter.

Yes, I know I can't use the Eurail in London. I have my plans for London to Paris. Do you have suggestions on how to get from Paris to Florence and then Florence to Switzerland if not by Eurail? Thanks!

If you price out the cost of individual tickets and compare them against a Eurail pass, you will probably find that if you only have two journeys to make in the Eurail area, it probably is not worth purchasing a pass for it. Just price out the cost for a pass on the Rail Europe website against the cost for single tickets on that site as well. Additionally, you can try pricing out the cost of single ticktes on the Deutsche Bahn website as their prices will better reflect the cost of purchasing tickets in Europe.
