My husband and I are planning on visiting Switzerland, northern Italy and Austria this May/June. We would like to catch Chamonix as we transition from Switzerland to Italy. I am not concerned about leaving, as we will take the bus into Italy. I am confused, however about getting to Chamonix on our 3 country Eurail flexipass. Will we need to buy a point-to-point ticket from our last station in Switzerland to add on to our flexipass?
Thanks Steve. I had thought as much.
As I look at things a bit closer now, I am finding it may be more economical to buy the point to point tickets throughout our trip instead of a pass.
Thank you for the advice!
We went to Chamonix using a Swiss/France pass and didn't have to buy a point-to-point ticket. You will probably need to buy a point-t-point ticket from Switzerland into France. You can pay for the ticket on the train, but there is usally an extra charge for tickets purchased aboard.
