Eurail Discounts?

I read the updates to the Eurail policies. They all sound great, including UK being on board. My family will be traveling in late June, early July for 3 weeks beginning in Bavaria through Italy and France leaving from London. I know there were some discounts before the new year on Eurail passes but we weren't able to take advantage. Are there any others that may be coming in the next few months. I would prefer not to purchase then have a discount come available. Thanks for any insights.

Hi,

I don't know about potential upcoming sales.
What I can say is that the end-of-year-sale seems to a yearly occurrence. Any other sales on Eurail passes are not that common - at least I don't think so.
The new Global Passes are also a lot cheaper than before.

Note that Italy and France are not the best countries for Eurail-tickets. High-speed trains in these countries - including the Eurostar service - require steep reservations, and some trains even have quotas for Eurail-pass holders.

If you are able to plan ahead (which you should do anyway if you are relying on high-speed trains in Italy and France), you may be able to find some better deals buying point-to-point tickets. Always by the tickets from the railway companies themselves, don't trust 3rd party agencies who claim to be "experts" and offer "low" prices - a lot of the time 3rd party sites are a ripoff.

Prices are subject to change at any time, mostly based on exchange rates, but spring sales have also happened in some years. Since you're not traveling for six months, I suggest waiting to see.
