Zermatt to Visp (R 262 Regionalzug) -> NO (pvt train 17CHF) Visp to Spiez (IC 841 Intercity) -> YES Spiez to Interlaken Ost (ICE 277 Intercity-Express) - YES 5. I wouldn't be able to comment specifically on each leg of your journey, although what you've listed looks reasonable, one thing you should double check is whether a reservation is needed for any leg of your journey. Even with a Eurail pass, some train routes will require a reservation ( and associated fee)...I found this out the hard way in Italy..lol
In my journey's using a Eurail pass, I've had to make, and pay, for a reservation on train journey's in Italy, and from Germany to France. It may depend on the train/route you take, but it's certainly something you need to look into...

Since the Visp-Zermatt train is listed on the Swiss Rail site, I don't think it is a private train. FYI, the 17 CHF fare is for people having a half-fare card. The standard fare is 34 CHF.

Visp to Zermatt is on the narrow gauge Matterhorn Gotthard Bahn, which also goes east as far as Disentis. SBB is well integrated with the private rail lines in Switzerland, so they show them on their schedule and a Swiss Pass covers them fully. A Eurail Pass does not-it is something like 25%. And the actual cost, as Tim stated, is 34 CHF not 17. SBB shows the Half Fare prices as the default selection.

2-a: reservations fees compulsory (assuming it is a night train) 3. It's CHF 34 7. The Milano-Venezia sector requires reservation (€ 10) 9. Reservation required (€ 10) 10. One or two reservations required (€ 10 each) 11. Reservation required (€10 each) ========== A correction: there is no "La Spiez" but only "La Spezia"

Another question, I purchased reservation ($21) for the 2a train (from the list above) though raileurope.com. But I think the reservation is a seat reservation (not couchette). - Can I upgrade this to a couchette once I reach Paris? - Would the couchette fees ($32) be in addition to 21$ I paid or I would have to pay the difference? Thanks
