I will be traveling to Edinburgh in April and I'm connecting through Amsterdam. Do I need to do customs for the EU if I'm just connecting flights? I understand I'll need to go through customs in Edinburgh. Thanks.
No customs or immigration in Amsterdam as you stay airside These will be done in Edinburgh, where you enter the UK.
No, you will stay airside in Amsterdam and wont go through customs or immigration.
Thank you so much. I understand now. Thanks.
Just as a side note. EU has nothing to do with immigration or customs. It is the Schengen zone agreement that governs. And UK is not a part of the Schengen zone so both immigration and customs will be in Edinburgh.

As was pointed out in another thread, this is wrong. EU has very much to do with immigration and customs. The Schengen agreement was a separate agreement but the Treaty of Amsterdam brought it into EU law. And the Customs union, that removes barriers between member states and applies a common external tariff, is one of the foundations of the EU, created when it was still the EEC and ECSC.
