I booked a ticket for the Estrella Train Freedom Class (Seat) though Eurail. The site is confusing because the description was not clear. The trip last overnight. What i am not clear was the accomodation. For those who traveled on this train- Is there a cabin or bed or I have to pay extra? Any other details will be greatly appreciated.
Eurail only sells Eurail passes, not train tickets. Double-check to see who you purchased it from, then check with them. Chances are is all you purchased was a seat.
Just another option next time for this trip. We went for the Avant speed train ( I booked tickets prior to departure from the US at Rail Europe site and they sent UPS to me free shipping if you meet a certain amount and since I booked several train tickets I met the requirement). We took that from BCN's Atocha station to Madrid's Chamartin in Sept. 2009 and it was only a 2 and a half hours trip. Seats were excellent and it was a really smooth ride.
Overnight from Barcelona to Madrid?
It's a very pleasant, 3 hour high speed ride. Double check what you did and try to get a refund if possible.
Will you have a Eurail Pass? If so, you only need the seat reservation, which you can obtain a few days in advance at the station. If just buying a regular ticket, then buy it a few days in advance at the station.
