Enough layover time to get connection flight?

I've never done a connecting flight or gone on an international flight.

The planned return ticket from Edinburgh will arrive via Virgin Atlantic operated by Delta in Atlanta at 2pm on Monday. The connecting Delta flight to Dallas leaves at 4:31pm. I will only be carrying a backpack and nothing else. Will I have enough time to make it to my connecting flight with just 2.5 hours? I haven't bought anything yet.

Yes, that should be plenty of time.

Our immigration is slow, but it’s not that slow

Don't forget that in Atlanta you will go through immigration and customs.

Do you have Global Entry? If not, set up Mobile Passport Control via its app. It will save you time going through immigration.

It looks like Delta has another flight at 7:57 pm, so if you were to miss your flight due to a late arriving flight, you will likely get a seat on that one. That is the way it works.

Plenty of time since I presume that you are using a single ticket.
