We're traveling in May, as cheaply as possible, and I thought it would be more convenient to leave from Liverpool to take the ferry to Dublin; as a foot passenger, I'd have to go to Holyhead, and it seems long and expensive from there.
Any suggestions?
Flying with Ryanair is probably the cheapest solution. Roger
Thanks for your reply. I would prefer the ferry, if I could do it cheaply and conveniently enough, but I will check out the Ryanair site.
If you book with SailRail, you can get a fare as low as €30.50 for a train ticket from anywhere in the UK to Holyhead plus a ferry to the Dublin ferry port. No advance purchase necessary.
Thank you for this superb suggestion! I had never heard of SailRail, but it sounds like the answer I need. Very helpful.
We did a ferry from Southern Wales to Waterford, then Dublin to Northern Wales. It was a nice way to go but you should at least compare cheap flights and decide which is better for you.
You may also want to try virgin trains since they run specials from london to liverpool and taking the ferry across. Keep in mind that the ferry does not run daily. So you will have to time your cross on one of one or two days (IIRC) during the week. Edwin
