England Rail Pass

Hello

Hope this finds everyone well. I apologize if this is covered in the form, but I am inquiring about England's rail passes. My best friend and I are traveling to England and will be taking 4 trains. When we land in Heathrow and make our way to Paddington Station taking a train to Bath, spend two days in Bath. Return to London see the sights and then a day trip to Oxford by train.

if I read the information correctly, the rail pass allows some freedom rather than purchasing a single roundtrip ticket at a set time. I am looking at the delays that have been happing lately and want to make sure that if that happens, we can still arrive at Bath within our scheduled time frame.

If the rail pass is the way to go, better to buy direct from England's National Rail?

Hopefully this makes sense and I appreciate all the help. I adore Rick Steves travel shows and books.

Stay Safe
Thank you

Teresa, I did a quick check on the trips you describe with "no advance purchase" and I still found that buying the tickets as you went was a better deal than the London Plus Pass which is the pass that would cover your trips that you described.

If both of you are traveling together at all times, you may benefit from getting a "two together" railcard for 30 pounds which would then give you a 1/3 discount off fares. I'll put the link here so you can read the fine print and specific requirements for yourself. You would still have flexibility and a discount.
