I have never flown on either airlines. Any feedback. Is one better than the other? Price is pretty close.
Emirates - thumbs up
Alitalia - thumbs down
That's like comparing the Hyatt (Emirates) with Motel 6 (Alitalia) - there is no comparison.
countries with respect complexes
I'm guessing that auto correct got in here somewhere - I don't have a clue what you mean and can't work out a reasonable alternative expression. Eh?
Oh heavens. I assumed it meant the airline employees had respect for the passengers, something that is more and more lacking in the exploit-the-employee and sardine-can-the-customer airlines.
Thank you everyone. I am finding there is a $300 savings per ticker fly in and out of Milan on Emirates from NY, rather then into Milan and out of Munich (on United). With three tickets involved, that is a good amount of money. We have flown into Milan before and are comfortable with the airport, getting the train. etc. Now I have to narrow down the itinerary and see if it's doing a loop.

Wow that flight is not only a great deal, it's also on one of the new giant A380s. Should be a great flight!
I checked out the plane and it does look amazing. In April we flew American from NY to Milan and it was ok. No individual TV's which was disappointing.
Now the question is do I book and do a loop from Milan back to Milan and fly the super nice plane or pay more and leave out of Munich or Vienna?
Always go either for airlines sponsored by rich petro states in the middle east (Qatar Air, Emirates, Etihad) ...
Newflash:
Alitalia is owned by Etihad of Abu Dhabi, since 2014!
Having said that, I generally look at the price, convenience of connections, # of layovers, routing first. Then maybe I might consider other bullsh1t.
Just booked on Emirates round trip to Milan for $1099 for two people. From JFK in NY. Pretty good!
What my time of year was that price for?
My vote would be for Emirates, we always fly them to Europe from Australia BUT-------------- we are having second thoughts like many others both here and in New Zealand.
Because most flights to Europe touch down in the Middle East (Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Bahrain) a lot of people, ourselves included are looking at alternate ways to get to Europe without flying via the Middle East. We could fly to Singapore or Bangkok then go direct from there.
We are still undecided at present as to who to fly with, I feel confident that security in Dubai would be very good as they couldn’t afford to have an incident with any plane flying out of Dubai – if it did happen it would basically be the end of Dubai till everyone got their confidence restored.
From your part of the World I’d go with Emirates.
What condescending rubbish from Kaeleku. If there is one country in the world where people try to tell you everything is bigger and better (and dumber in the case of Donald Trump) then it is the US.
And just to ensure no confusion, neither Qantas or Air NZ are owned or subsidised by their govts.
Now I am confused. I thought it was Trump family that had small hands not the Koreans?
