EES for Dummies - that’s me. Have a question for my flight back home

Hi forum, I registered my EES in Amsterdam last month on the way to the Czech Republic. Tomorrow I fly home from Rome. The flight will land at SeaTac.

Am I good to go, or should I be adding extra time up front in the morning at the Rome Airport? In other words, have a relaxing morning espresso or get moving, Jean!

Thanks!

you have registered so they have your biometrics.

If the EES is working at Rome you will go through the machines to identify your leaving. It is Entry Exit System, so you get to experience it coming and going, I'm afraid.

If it isn't working you will see a human.

No way at all to know how long the lines will be.

If it were me I'd be there with plenty of time.

My flight is at 12:30pm, and I already have my boarding pass. Should I plan to be there at 9:30am - sound reasonable?

I'm sort of in the same boat. I leave Wednesday out of Dusseldorf.

My arrival EES took less than a minute in Vienna. I have no idea how long it will take in Dusseldorf to exit.

I have EasyPass for Germany and should be able to use it to leave Germany, I think, even though I didn't enter Schengen in Germany.

Dusseldorf was the first airport in Germany to use EES so I hope by now they have it working correctly.

Enquiring minds will want to hear the outcome. Good luck, Jean and Frank!

Sorry Jean but you’re going to have to do it again when you exit. Fingers crossed that their egates are working. You slide your passport in while holding, look at camera, it takes a pic of your face, thinks a bit and should be good to go. I definitely would be there the 3 hours early, though. Safe travels!

And Frank, if Düsseldorf is anything like Berlin, they’ve got it down. People were flowing thru the egates in short amounts of time and they had a decent amount of passport control officers if the egates told you to see passport control. There was an automated machine that told you which officer’s line to get in.

Jean, this is a paste of remarks I posted in April regarding leaving from FCO:

EES. I reported earlier of the (entry) process as it was in Zurich, they were doing it manually, and quick. Leaving FCO yesterday was no issue, facial recognition i.d.'ed us to our passports and gate opened. Not even stamped out. I will note that there were extensive walks involved at FCO, first way down to US security, then to the border, then to the end of T3, so off train to that area (from which we were then bussed to the outer gates) was pretty much an hour at our slow pace.

Thanks, everyone! I appreciate your quick replies! Larry, I’ve been going through Rome often, so I know they like to give us a long walk routine. I figure it’s my last good walk before sitting on the plane for a long time. Hopefully there’s some decent movies to watch on the way home on the 12-hr flight! : )

Jean, the shocker me was that they simply were not posting the gate for the flight even though they without doubt knew that flight had to be leaving from the outer gates of T3 and that you needed to be bused over. How can Flightaware know this stuff and the airport can't? Anyway, enjoy your flight (is that possible!?)

When I exited Rome last month, 1/2 were sent through machines, 1/2 saw an officer. 5 minutes
