Any suggestions - for a day trip? bus - train - or day tour?

Cathy, We changed trains in Edinburgh going to St. Andrews from London. You have to take the train from Edinburgh to Leuchars, then bus into St. Andrews. Buses usually arrive within 10 minutes of train arrivals.
Depending on where you are staying in Edinburgh you can catch the train at either Waverly or Haymarket Stations. St. Andrews is a lovely city to visit and would be a lovely day trip. Dave
