Edinburgh to Paris

What is the best way to get from Edinburgh to Paris? Has anyone used easyJet? Good or bad experience?

Fastest and cheapest would by to fly. As discount airlines go Easyjet is probably the best of the bunch. Avoid Ryanair at all costs (pun intended).

Most comfortable would be the 4.5 hour train journey to Kings Cross, walk next door to St Pancras Station and take the Chunnel train to Pairs in 2.5 hours. Of course you could break up the journey by taking a very early train out of Edinburgh spend a few hours in central London before hopping on the Chunnel.

jaxter,

Michael provided a good summary of the options, and you could use either method to get from Edinburgh to Paris.

EasyJet is my preferred budget airline in Europe, and I typically use them one or more times each year. I find that booking and travel with them is usually very "easy", but there are some rules to keep in mind. If you decide to travel with them, be sure to read their Terms & Conditions carefully, especially related to luggage limits. They usually only allow ONE carry-on item per passenger, and they DO usually enforce that. If you think your checked luggage will be over the allowable limit, it's cheaper to pay the excess at the time of booking rather than at the gate.

Travel via train is also a reasonable option. You'll take East Coast Rail from Edinburgh to London King's Cross and then walk to London St. Pancras (it's only a short walk), where you'll board the EuroStar. You can research all the rail travel details using the excellent Man in Seat 61 website.

Travel by rail probably won't take much longer than travel by air, when all is considered (travel to & from airports, check-in, security, waiting, boarding & deplaning times, etc.). I'd probably lean towards the rail trip, just to avoid the usual airport annoyances. The trip from Edinburgh to London is very relaxing and pleasant.

Happy travels!

Jaxter12,

welcome.

Ive used EJ several times. Just be aware of the luggage policy and that in some places you cant get your boarding pass at the terminal.

happy trails.
