Easyjet or Brit Airways

After Easyjet nickles and dimes you, their 8:00am flight to Venice is 16 pounds less than the 7:30am British Airways flight. Are the two airlines comparable on these types of flights? I'm wondering if I should save the 16 pounds or go with BA, an airline I am familiar with. Thanks for any feedback.

One thing to consider with Easyjet is their addtional charge for overweight checked luggage. You have up to 20kg (about 44lbs). Over that and it's 8-10 pounds per kilo. Also, you pay 8 pounds for each bag to be checked.

Here's the rules from their own website:

"Up to 8 pieces of checked-in hold baggage (each bag charged at £3.99 online or £8 at the airport) to a maximum combined weight of 20kg. A fee per kilo for excess weight is charged at the airport prior to departure".

BA may not be all that bad.

We will have one carry on bag each so the additional weight/checked charges aren't a concern. Just wondering if one airline is preferable to the other (price being nearly equal). Thanks.

Hi Dennis,
There is another airline you could use- their website is flybmi.com. They fly from Heathrow to Venice and the flight leaves a bit later in the morning (which I liked because you have to be at the airport 2 hours ahead of your flight, and I'm not an early morning person).
Whatever you decide, have a great trip!

BA is much better on any aspect: Airport is better accessible (and cheaper to get to), Ground and in-air service are much better... I suppose you're looking at an Easyjet flight from either Luton or Stansted compared to a BA flight from Heathrow, right? Try to see if 16 pounds get you to Luton or Stansted...

A kilogram is approximately 2.2 lbs so 20 kilos = 44 lbs not 30 some lbs. I've flown Easy Jet,from Venice to London (Gatwick), instead of BA but the price difference was more like 40 pounds. Not a bad flight but for only 16 pounds more, I probably would have went with BA.

I am looking at BA to Rome as well and trying to figure out if it's worth the hassle to get transportation to a smaller airport and all the hassles with baggage restrictions.

BA looks good. Will report back what we decide to do to let others know.

Flybmi wants $302. That's half of my airfare to London from Seattle (I know that's a great price!). But thanks for the suggestion Maggie.

I'm going to go with BA. Both flights leave Gatwick but I think BA has the better reputation.

Our trip isn't until July but looks like flights are filling up already. Thanks again.
