I'll be scrambling to catch an EasyJet in Milan.... and i was wondering if you have experience with this carrier? In particular, i am carrying on a 22" bag but not sure if that is a problem w/ EasyJet, because i don't know the conversion of their measurements. I'm hoping to be able to board and go quickly. I paid extra for the "boarding plus" to be first in line to choose seat/board and I hope it is worth it.... and that I make it to their gate in time from term 1 and going to them at term 2. Thanks for your thoughts!
Does your 22" bag have wheels?
The measurement guidelines for carrry-on with Easyjet are:
21.6 x 15.7 x 7.87
Which means if you have a standard soft0sided 22" carry-on w/o wheels, you should be okay.( Easy to stuff into the sizer). Wheels and handles add an inch or two. Then it will be up to the gate agent.
We took an EasyJet flight from Madrid to Marrakesh about 2 weeks ago. It all went smoothly. They were less strict bout carry-on bags than I expected -- it was like any other airline in that respect, in that there was one of those boxes at the check-in counter. I only saw one person try their bag in it, everyone else just skipped it (admittedly, their bags all looked small). We checked our "large" bags (20"-22", we usually take them as carry ons but didn't want to mess with them for this flight).
Boarding was no big deal -- they separated everyone into two groups (I think this was based on how early they checked in; I was in "Group A" so we got on the bus to the plane before "Group B". I did not see any early boarding group, and based on my experience, I see no reason to pay extra for this early boarding....me and my wife were amongst the first on the plane, and had plenty of opportunity to grab seats we wanted.
Overall the boarding and flight itself was a non-event. I'd use them again with no hesitation.
Hi David, your note is reassuring. I have a tight connection but i feel good to make it. I appreciate your info on the luggage... I paid to "HOLD" check the bag,,,, but hope to carry it on. I'll be connecting from an international flight carrying my bag so i hope it's easy to "check" if need by when i get to area. Thanks again! Glad to hear all went well.
You might want to check about weight restrictions for your luggage. I think some of those discount airlines have 30 lb limits.
My luggage measures per brochure 22x14x9, so i may be called on it.... that's why i went ahead and paid for it to be put in baggage ("hold").... i talked w/others and they said it's probably pretty close to call, so may be ok. We'll see. I am also as curious as the connection and terminals in Milan.... from Term1 to Term2, if easy to get around, etc., but think Milan is not a huge airport. Thanks !
Wheeled bags are measured without taking the wheels into consideration. Is it a wheeled bag?
If not, and as long as it's not bulging out to the sides too much, you should be okay.
Yes, it has wheels, very streamlined tho, a newer bag. Thank you.
Linda: here's a website with info about Milan's Malpensa airporthttp://www.worldairportguide.com/airport/371/airport_guide/Europe/Milan-Malpensa-Airport.html See the map that shows the location of Terminal 2 in relation to Terminal 1. It says you take a shuttle bus to get from one terminal to the other. Milan has two airports, Malpensa (MXP) and Linate.
Hi Kent (again)! Nice site, I have not seen that one before. Well i hope the terminals are closer then they appear. I sent a note to the Milano MXP airport... so i'll see what they say. I believe i will the make my connection, but I like to know what to expect.... Ya'll have a great weekend and thanks! I leave Monday for Italy, so thanks again for all the info!
I had to check my Rick Steves' convertible carry-on bag (9" x 21" x 14"). Their posted restrictions had a size limit, but they enforced a weight limit at check-in
