easyJet - insights with medical equip/carry-ons?

We are taking easyJet from Barcelona to Paris next month. In addition to 21' carry-ons, also have medical device (CPAP machine) which is too small to check/too large to pack (about 14"x3"x8"). EasyJet carrier agreement on website says medical equipment can go in the hold free of charge. Repeated contacts with customer service quotes same policy. CPAP won't survive hold and we prefer not to check luggage if possible. Any insight, ideas or general info on flying easyJet?

My husband also uses a CPAP. We have not flown EasyJet with it, but we have flown Ryanair. Most of those lines have similar policies, and of course you should make sure about your particular airline, but I will tell you our experience. For Ryanair, they allow medical equipment in addition to the one carryon, BUT only if you call them and have it authorized ahead of time. No way to do it online, and they put you on hold forever. I mean literally forever, because no one ever came on the line to help when we tried it. And there is no toll-free calling, of course. They're not going to make it easy for you.

My husband finally decided to take his machine out of the case it comes in and put it into a larger carry-on bag along with his other items. He has less room for clothing this way but it's a trade-off, since as you say, the machine should not be checked. We found by packing very light and by shifting both our clothing items between our two carryons we were able to do it. If you decide to do this, be sure to place the CPAP in the bag where you can easily get to it, because you will most likely have to take it out in security for it to be examined.

The alternative is to check at least one bag.

As Steve said, easyJet allows only one carry-on item. It's not one carry-on bag plus a day pack or laptop bag. It's one item--period. If easyJet won't make an exception in your case and you can't risk having the CPAP machine go in the hold, then you'll have to check at least one of your bags.
