I am looking to book on EasyJet for flights from Naples to Milan, Milan to Madrid for my trip in August. I was on the website, proceeding with my reservation and then I got a "warning/error" type message. Flight 1 gets in to Milan and allows 1hour 35 minutes for connection to flight going to Madrid. Easy Jet site said problem is there is not at least 2 hours between flights and instructed me to remove a flight, select another option that allowed 2 hours. There are no other choices that work with my schedule on that day!!! I NEED these flights! I thought 1 1/2 hours was going to be OK but now I am a bit concerned, thinking maybe the airline says that for a reason. I emailed Easy Jet and awaiting reply but thought some of you here could give some insight. Please let me know..........I am in Milan airport (MXP) and will 1 1/2 hours be OK to land from one flight, get bags and check in for second flight?? Thanks much!
Tim-
Thanks for the reply. Had already checked Vueling but they have one flight a day Naples to Madrid and it gets to Madrid around 1am. That won't work as i am going to a dinner party with a friend in Madrid that night and need to be there sooner. I realize Madrid is a "late" city but landing at 1am would be an issue.
anyone else with opinions on whether 1 1/2 hours is doable or not?? thanks.
Yes, easyJet has done well to warn you. With budget airlines each flight is a separate ticket. You will have to collect your bags and check in for your next flight before the check-in deadline arrives. If you don't have a boarding pass in hand at the time of the check-in deadline, your ticket will be worthless and you'll have to buy a full fare ticket on a later flight. Even though your flights are on the same airline, budget airlines will cut you no slack here.
Vueling (another budget airline) has Sunday-Tuesday-Thursday-Saturday direct service from Naples to Madrid. Will that work for you?
You could take a train from Naples to Rome in time to catch the 16:05 Vueling flight from Fiumicino to Madrid, arriving at 18:35.
Christy, as others have mentioned, Easyjet is not like other airlines. Each ticket is separate. You need to get your bags, check in , go through security, etc. If you plane into Milan is late, you could miss your flight to Madrid. Easyjet is very strict with their rules. They don't bend.
Tim - Thanks for that idea of train to Rome. Had not considered. Will research further. But how long is the train trip from Naples to Rome? I will actually be coming via ferry that morning from Capri to Naples then flying (or training) from that point.
As always, thanks to all for the input. I have flown EasyJet around Europe before and am aware of the strict guidelines. My question was more about being in Milan airport and trying to make that connection. Never been there and don't know layout and how it all works, how crowded, etc. For example, flown in/out Lisbon a lot, know that airport and if this connection was through there, I would book it b/c I am fairly confident I could quickly navigate through and make it work. Just not sure how it is in Milan and if some of you who have flown through there, would think this is doable or not doable.
thanks
Christy,
Fast EuroStar Italia trains make the run from Napoli Centrale to Roma Termini in 1hr21min. The Leonardo Express runs twice/hour from Termini to Fiumicino. The ride takes 35 minutes.
Have you tried Iberia? We are flying them from Naples to Madrid at the end of May and my ticket was less than €100 (and that includes baggage).
Also if you can do with just a carry-on you can check in from home (or a hotel) and skip the check-in line. Even if both flights come in and out of terminal 2, you will have to go back through security regardless because of the way the terminal is shaped. The terminal is very small and easy to navigate.
Laura-
How did you find that cheap of a flight on Iberia??? I checked their site and it is 709euro before taxes! After the taxes it comes to 920! YIKES.
€ 709
Type of rate:: Economy Class
13:15 Naples (NAP) 15:55 Madrid (MAD) 2h: 40m IB8557 Non-Stop
Is there something I am missing here???
You are right. I don't know why the fares are that high (or why my tickets were so cheap). I bought one-way tickets for my husband and I for beginning of June last month and they were € 210 total. I must have hit a sale or price slump I didn't realize.
If you buy a round trip ticket it will bring the price down to around $330, but that is quite a bit more expensive than the EasyJet flight.
Laura-
Thanks. Just checked it and you are right. $330. I almost would consider paying it b/c if the Easy Jet flight I wanted doesn't work (due to time of connection in Milan) my next option is either a combo of a flight on Click to BCN then Iberia BCN to Madrid and the whole thing comes to nearly $300.
So my question now is: Is there any problem that could happen if you book a RT flight and don't use the return flight? I can't imagine there would be but I have never done that before. Maybe I will post this as a new topic.
