We are flying easyJet London Gatwick (North Terminal) to Ljubljana. It is our first time with this carrier. What should we expect? Thanks for your help! ~ Doug & Sue
Read their inflight services follow their rules it is all listed on the website and you should expect the same as from all airlines: an on time departure and arrival
If you have baggage that exceeds the carry-on size and weight, pre-pay for checked baggage. I took an easyJet flight out of Basel, and it is the only time I have seen an airline actually weighing bags at the boarding gate. We had pre-paid, but those whose carry-on size bags were too big or too heavy had to pay extra to check them. I offer only as a heads-up, rather than a criticism of easyJet- it was nice that there was room in the overhead for legitimate carry-on bags.
I like 'em. They are our preferred discount carrier. BUT -- follow their rules, especially for check-in and boarding passes.
When they say there is just one carry on, they mean one. One purse, one backpack, one 21" rolling bag. Got a purse? Will it fit in your rolling bag?
Travel light and all will be well.
It is good most flights are 2 hrs. or less because the seating is pretty tight. But the price is right.
Doug,
I like flying with EasyJet, but as the others have mentioned, do read all their rules and regulations.
In terms of cabin baggage you’re allowed the following:
All customers can take ONE cabin bag on board. There’s no weight limit but we do ask that you are able to lift it into the overhead locker.
You can bring an ADDITIONAL under seat bag if you’re an easyJet Plus cardholder, FLEXI fare, Up Front or Extra Legroom customer, or if you’re travelling with an infant (under 2)
Cabin bag allowance
Cabin bag
Maximum size: 56cm x 45cm x 25cm,
I pay for an “Up front /extra legroom seat”, and this way I can bring a personal bag (under seat) as well as my carry-on roller bag.
Keep in mind that you can check-in online & can print your boarding pass up to 30 days prior to your flight.
Please note that the boarding gate closes promptly 30 minutes before your departure.
Enjoy your trip!
I use easyjet about 10 times a year, great company but as others have said follow their rules.
a little unknown thing they do is called Hands Free.
http://www.easyjet.com/en/hands-free-upgrade
for a small fee you can hand your carryon bag in at bag drop and collect it at your desy=tination, Advatages for me is that I can put liquids in my hand luggage and also can take a small bag (usually a 25l back pack) on board with me,also means I don't have to cart my luggage around the airport with me.done this on 4 flights so far and will be doing it again in April.
easyjet are a good airline and have a great on time service, I did have a 3.5 hour delay about 18 months ago but was compensated very quickly.
Doug, how did you get an airplane emoji in the title? Please advise!! :-)
As for EasyJet, they are a terrific intra-European carrier. When you buy your EasyJet ticket online, pay to check in your luggage then and there. In addition, what you may think is a carry-on for transatlantic flights probably is NOT carry-on for EasyJet. Don't take a chance and have the airline do a last-minute check of your carry-on bag. You will be penalized by a heavy penalty. That info is on their website.
Priscilla has it down. Know the rules. If you are a light packer with 2 bags pay the extra that allows you to carry on 2 bags instead of one, and gets you early boarding. Take a bottle of water and any snacks you want or be prepared for highway robbery once in board.
Good airline. Just follow the rules and things will be a breeze. Paying the little amount extra for early boarding and a carry on bag and a personal bag is well worth it.
You can check in weeks in advance and should do so, to save a hefty gate fee. Buy all your "extras" on-line too. Every time I've flown with them there was a cluster of passengers on the floor at the gate trying to stuff everything into that one cabin bag. Value for money, absolutely.
Doug,
As you may already know, do book your ✈️ ticket(s) way in advance for best prices.
@ Continental,
You can add any type of emoji if you use you phone 😉
And I can now do it from the keyboard too! Thank you, Priscilla!

Doug,
easyJet is my preferred budget airline in Europe, and I use them whenever possible. As the others have mentioned, just be sure to read the Terms & Conditions so there are no "surprises". If you'll be checking luggage, I'd recommend checking the weight of the bags so these don't exceed the limit. If the bag will be heavier than the allowed amount, paying for the next highest tier at the time of booking is cheaper than getting nicked at the gate!
I would also highly recommend paying a bit extra for Speedy Boarding and advance seat selection. It's really nice to board and get seated before the "hordes" arrive and start to load the overhead bins.
Finally, you'll have to print your boarding passes prior to the trip, as getting them printed at the airport will come with a hefty fee. There's no check-in at the airport, just a bag drop. If you have Speedy Boarding, the queue will be much shorter.
Hello there, just tagging along on this question, if you don't mind.
We, too, are traveling on easyJet for the first time and will be using RS Rolling Carryons.
The measurement conversion suggests that the dimensions are within the rules.
Anyone have any personal experience with this?
Thanks again for all the free and helpful advice on the forum!
ss_earl asked about using the RS rolling carry on while flying Easy Jet. We did it without any problem. We did pay extra to get advanced boarding and a second (personal) bag and the small amount was well worth it. Our bag was within their size limits anyway.
Thanks everyone for all of the tips on using easyJet. I appreciate both you and the RS Forum!
