Does anyone know how strict easyjet is on their baggage size allowance. They list "standard" baggage as 55cm X 40 X 20 cm which is a suitcase that is 21.7 inches not 22" which is the standard here. Do they really check each bag at the gate?? Thanks.

Welcome to the world of metric versus standard conversions that Canadians get to deal with all the time. :-)
I personally wouldn't worry about it as they are just rounding off their centimeters so they are even and it is easier for locals to deal with. They are not going to use fractions of centimeters to make the standard measurement tourists have an easier day.
Worst case scenario you will check a bag.

From recent luggage shopping experiences, I'd say that the standard here is a 21" bag, not 22". I have been looking to replace my current 21", so I've been shopping all over -- every line I saw lists that size bag as 21".
