I have spent hours over several days trying to add a piece of Hold luggage to my booking for my husband and for me. I have seen information on the web that this seems to be possible IF you have an Easyjet account (I have a booking number only). There is NO option to add Hold luggage with the Manage Your Booking link. Someone else booked this flight for us (a really poor travel agent that we will never again use) and they say they cannot add the information for us. To call Europe seems ridiculously expensive. Help please!
See if you can get foreign minutes added to your phone, or maybe there's a US equivalent of an Internet café where you can make cheap foreign calls.
Another option is to travel light and carry your EasyJet luggage on the plane. There are actually pieces of carry-on luggage for sale that are advertised as meeting EasyJet's dimension limits. Put any heavy stuff, such as books, electric shavers, tablets, liquids, etc. in a smaller bag so that you don't exceed the weight limits.
What you don't want to do is show up with a steamer trunk and pay $300 for excess baggage.
Good luck.
judy,
You should easily be able to add "hold luggage" to your booking using the EasyJet website. There's a category in the "Manage Bookings" section for adding hold baggage. If you click on that tab, it will bring up a sign-in window, where you can check a box that says "Someone else made the booking". You may have to click the "I forgot my Password" section, but you have a booking reference number, so that should lead you to your reservation, and allow you to add the luggage.
I'd suggest having a good idea what the hold baggage weighs, as if it's over their allowable limit it's cheaper to pay for the next weight tier at the time of booking, rather than at the gate.
You should be able to take care of this on their website. However, if you wish to E-mail them, try THIS link. Note that if you contact them by phone (+44-330-365-5454) , there may be an extra charge. The customer service hours are 08:00-20:00 (UK time), 7 days a week.
Estimate whether the cost of the phone call, if necessary, will exceed the check-baggage-at-the-desk fee.
Since the drop at the desk fee is £30, and the phone call would struggle to exceed $2 using a scheme like Skype, the phone call seems like a slam dunk to me.
But it looks like you should be able to use the ADD HOLD LUGGAGE tab on http://www.easyjet.com/en/planning/baggage
There are no weight, only size, limits with Easyjet cabin luggage but you must be able to lift it into the overheads unaided. And NO smaller personal bag in addition. One cabin bag really means ONE with Easyjet. This is uppermost in my mind at the moment because we are packing for our flight with them tomorrow!
I had problems with the Easyjet website a few days ago. I wanted to book two bags in the hold, and it assumes that on a return flight you will take the same number of bags in each direction. Presumably, if the number of bags is different on the two journeys, you have to book two one-way flights.
This must be a change to the website, since I have not had problems previously.
