I am interested in anyone out there that has experienced an EasyCruise, espec Greek Islands. Any comments, pro or con?
JS, in September we did the Greek Islands and Turkey and LOVED it! In contrast to typical cruises we'd been on in the past (Carnival, Disney, Royal Caribbean), the focus was on the island destinations, not the ship activities. The ship arrived in port usually around or before noon and stayed all night, sailing around 5AM. No more rushing back to the ship before dinner and leaving port. Our inside cabin was simple and clean, with everything we needed. The meals were simple and good. We didn't pay for meals we didn't eat and always got to have either lunch or dinner on each island. Except for Myconos, where we had to take a shuttle into town, the ship docked right in the harbor, just steps away from the wonderful Greek towns. It was so easy to come and go. It was the most casual, relaxing trip we've ever had. We really enjoyed this concept in cruising...more like a floating, unpretentious Rick Steves type of hotel. We traveled from island to island while we slept, so none of our time was wasted waiting for ferries and we only unpacked once. We would love it if Easy Cruise added more European destinations. We were a little wary ahead of time because the cost was so low, but we, along with everyone we met on the ship loved it and found Easy Cruise to be a terrific value.
I am slightly reluctant to post without direct experience. Four years ago we looked into EasyCruise and ran into a multi complaints about nearly everything on (I think) TravelAdvisor and another cruise site. Loved the concept and hope that Terry's positive experience means that they have gotten their act together.
We had read a lot of criticisms on our particular ship, Easy Cruise Life, regarding its first few sailings. These issues were not unlike similar problems we had read about on some of our other cruises on brand new Royal Caribbean ships. I guess it pays not to be on any ship's first few sailings. The problems we had read about on Easy Cruise, like disorganization, untrained staff and slowness of food service, all seemed to have been resolved by the time we sailed. I guess the main thing about Easy Cruise, is to judge it for what it is, not what it isn't. If you want bingo, Broadway shows, a rock climbing wall, a casino, ice sculptures, kid's camps and Dale Chihuly sculptures in the atrium, Easy Cruise is absolutely not for you. If you want a simple, low key way to inexpensively enjoy the Greek Islands late into the evenings, then easy Cruise might be the perfect choice. I loved Caribbean cruises on traditional cruise lines (especially when they entertained our young children so well). But now that we don't need help with the kids, experiencing the sublime beauty of the Greek Islands was all the entertainment we could possibly have wanted. We loved the casual simplicity of this experience.
