Hi, I'm planning to travel with my family to 3 places in Eastern Europe - Prague, Vienna & Budapest, in no particular order. My husband & I are travelling with 2 kids ages 9 & 5, and we only have 4-5 days. This is our stop-over trip on the way from USA to India.
1)Can you please help me plan the route of the trip?
2)Want to arrive & depart from a popular airport, where it is easy to find flights from USA and to India.
3)Is it better to drive around or to take a train?
4)Would anyone know if there are storage facilities available at any of these airports, for extra luggage?
Thanks for your help.
You're joking, right? Prague, Vienna, and Budapest--all in 4 or 5 days? With kids in tow? Even if you were willing to travel nonstop from point to point, you'll have only a day or less to look around once you arrive. And will your kids be OK with round the clock traveling just so they can see three different cities? Mine sure wouldn't have.
Trains are efficient and quick but you'll need four or five hours from Prague to Vienna and the same from Vienna to Budapest. So you can see that you'll be mainly experiencing train cars. Auto transport won't save you any time, but will leave you with an expensive headache once you get where you're going as you try to figure out where to park.
Why not pick one of the three and enjoy it? You can throw in a day trip or two if you need to. From Prague, you can daytrip to Kutna Hora or to Karlovy Vara. From Vienna, there's the Danube cruise to Melk, or even Bratislava. Budapest has good options, too.
Thanks for the response. I see your point, and agree with you. I also thought on the same terms, and changed my destination. We are now doing just Rome & Vatican City for 4-5 days now.
