We're leaving for Paris in a few days. Our hotel is near the Vaneau metro stop. Does anyone know what would be the easiest way to get there? Is it a good idea to use public transportation rather than a taxi?
The RER & Metro is the cheapest way way to go, but schlepping luggae can be a challnege unless you're packing light. Take the RER B from CDG to St-Michel Notre-Dame. Walk through the connecting tunnels to the Cluny-La Sorbonne Metro station. Transfer to Metro line 10 (direction Boulogne Pont de Saint-Cloud) and take it to Vaneau. The fare is €8.20.
Go to www.ratp.fr to download and print a Metro/RER map for central Paris.
Or take Air France bus #4 from CDG directly to Gare Montparnasse (one stop at Gare de Lyon). Buses run every 30 minutes and the fare is €14. Take a taxi from Gare Montparnasse to your hotel. Note: If there are more than two of you, a taxi all the way from CDG would be simpler and cost about the same.
