My husband & I have a 6:30 a.m. departure from Milan for home. Will the hotel help me set up transport or do I have to move to a hotel by the airport the night before? Have not made hotel reservations yet.
Ahhh, the infamous Milan Malpensa Airport 6:30am departure. Ummm, you are departing from MXP (Malpensa) and not Linate, correct?
Malpensa airport is 30 miles northwest of the Milan city center.
Given the distance, and that being such a horrendously early time, even by Malpensa standards, you probably want to book one of the hotels listed below

But make sure you tell them, and get a specific acknowledgement from them or clear indication from their website, that they will call a cab for you at that very early time of the morning. The airport is a 5 to 15 minute taxi ride from most of the hotels listed in the link.
This is the way it's usually done. You could also get a Milan city center hotel to arrange for a taxi for you, but it's 30 miles from Milan to the Milan Malpensa Airport, which surprises some people.
Hi Maribeth,
There is a Best Western Hotel about 10 minutes maximum from Malpensa air terminals. We stayed at this hotel a few months ago and it was the perfect location for early morning travel departures. They offer shuttle service to and from the airport, just be sure to get your name and departure time on the list with the reception desk person. If you go on line and google Best Western Hotels near Malpensa airport the site will come up, that is how I found it. Good Luck.
