Early Check in at CDG

We have a trip planned from Seattle to Paris in 2008. Our flight back to Seattle leaves CDG at 10:40 am. To make the connection easier on us we will stay at a hotel close the airport so we don't have to get up so early. I have 2 questions. Does anyone know a clean, comfortable hotel that has good schuttle service to terminal 2? Can we check our bags in the night before so we don't have to be a the airport 3 hours early?
We are in our 60's and I want to make this a simple as possible.
Thanks for any advice.

I stayed at the Mercure Hotel some years ago and it was very nice. There are several of the chain hotels at CDG- Ibis, Mercure, Accor.....etc. Probably can't check bags early, but I have experienced long lines at CDG at security and passport control, so bite the bullet. The bright side: if you have extra time there are lots of nice shops and you can always have one last croissant and cafe-au-lait! Jodi

We had a 10 AM flight and had no trouble getting from our hotel near Notre Dame to the airport in time. The taxi picked us up at our hotel at 7:00 AM, and we had breakfast at the airport after checking in. Obviously we weren't at the airport three hours ahead, but we were there more than two hours before flight time. Just another option.

Hi Mary,
We have stayed at the Hotel Campanile several times and can recommend it as clean, comfortable, reasonably-priced, and with good shuttle service. You can google it. It's part of a big chain, so you would want the one in Roissy. I doubt that you can check bags the night before. Probably a security issue.

I suggest you stay at one of the hotels in the Accor chain that are close to CDG. The closest ones, beginning with the cheapest, are Formule 1 Roissy Aeroport CDG PN 2, Etap Hotel Roissy CDG Paris Nord 2, and Ibis Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport/Terminal. They all have free shuttle service to the airport. For more information, go here: http://tinyurl.com/yy8pqj.

Typically, they don't let you check bags until they open the flight for check in. I'm not sure when they do that, but it's probably 3 hours prior to departure. You don't say what time of year you are going. We had a terrible time at CDG in August 2006 - it took a full three hours to get from the check-in to the plane, due to security backups. But in January it took 5 minutes.

So, when are you going?

Thanks for your help. We plan to arrive in Paris May 27th and leave June 29th. I suspect it will not be too bad on May 27th but much busier on the 29th of June. Our flight back to Seattle is at 10:15 am I think we'll stay at the Ibis right at the airport. We'll come back to Paris on June 28th from Cahors by train and walk from Gare Austerlutz to Gare de Lyon, catch the Air France Bus in front of Gare de Lyon. It all sounds so easy on paper!
I guess you just have to hope for the best but prepare for the worst.

In July I stayed at the Radisson Hotel near the Lisbon airport. I reserved the room thru Expedia and paid 85E. It was 265E at the hotel!

i would recommend trying Expedia for a hotel near CDG. It is worth a try.

Good Luck!
