Hello!
I am trying to arrange private car service from our hotel in Rome to FCO for an 8:45 am flight to JFK (it will be a mid-week flight and will include a 2 hour stop over in Munich, if that's important to know). Any suggestions on what time we should ask to be at the airport to comfortably give us enough time?

Personally I would want to be at airport no later than 0630 for a FCO-MUC-JFK flight
Better to have time for an extra espresso, than to line up to buy a new ticket.
Your hotel will usually have a car service meet you. Just tell them when your flight is. The drive didn't take very long, either.
We flew out of FCO the end of April and didn't find the security lines and check in to take very long.
Flying to Munich is a domestic flight so becat FCO 2 hours ahead.
I've flown from FCO twice in the past year and did not see long lines either time. The traditional 2 hours early will easily be enough, especially if you aren't checking luggage and can print your boarding pass online. I wouldn't cut it any closer than 2 hours. Even though most likely you will be sitting around for an hour, you want the extra time just in case.
