e-mail train ticket

I have secured an e-mail rail ticket from Paris to Turin. It's my understanding that rail tickets have to be validated by swiping through a ticket machine. Any problem with validating the e-mail ticket sheet?

The ticket validation is only if you have a rail ticket printed on card. If you print out an online ticket at home, you don't need to validate it before getting on the train, and if you tried you'd probably damage the ticket or jam the machine. The staff on the train will validate the ticket for you when they check it.

The point of validation is so that you cannot re-use an "open" ticket (one that is good for unreserved trains and so can be used on more than one train). The train from Paris to Turin is all-reserved, and your e-ticket is only good for the exact train you purchased it for; you can't just hop on any train. So, no need to validate ("composte") that ticket. Furthermore, you have to show your passport with your ticket, so it can't be used by anyone else.

You should also have the exact credit card used to purchase the ticket, even though it often is not checked.
