To find these trains, here's Rick's tutorial on using the Bahn website: http://www.ricksteves.com/plan/tips/db_tips.htm If you can commit to non-exchangeable and non-refundable tickets, you can save about 50% by booking in advance online. You print out the ticket (even though it says to use A4 paper, 8.5 x 11 is fine), then show the ticket with your credit card to the conductor on the train.

Hi, The quickest way for Düsseldorf-Amsterdam is to take the ICE from Düsseldorf Hbf to Amsterdam Centraal. It's direct. No need to transfer in Duisburg. That ICE train starts in Frankfurt.
