Dubrovnik to Venezia

How would YOU get from Dubrovnik to Venice in late September, 2011? Easyjet emailed us that the flights and fares (DBV to MXP or FCO) would be available after 4 June but nothing comes up. I suspect the DBV flights have been discontinued. There is a US$402 (3-1/2 hour) flight on Croatia and Austrian Airlines on Travelocity. I also checked the ferries and train connections but they're not very convenient time-wise.
Thanks for any comments!

Easyjet only flies those routes in summer, and the date of their last flights out of Dubrovnik is September 4th.

It depends on whether you have more time or money, and if you want to do any sightseeing along the way. As you've already found out, the ferry/train options are quite a bit cheaper but very time consuming. There's the ferry from Dubrovnik to Bari, and then a long train ride up the coast of Italy. Looks like only one overnight ferry per week (on Tuesdays) and several ferries that put you in Bari late in the evening. Or you can take the ferry from Dubrovnik to Rijeka (but in late September it's only once a week, on Thursdays, and it takes almost 24 hours) and then a bus to Trieste, and a train into Venice. We actually did this once, leaving from Hvar, which made the trip a little shorter. We were not in a hurry, so we spent the night in Trieste, which has a beautiful piazza/port area, before training into Venice the next morning. But if you don't have 30+ hours to devote to this journey, then I'd take the flight.

Thanks for the info, Tom and Charlene! Since my husband will be short on time, I'll have him fly to meet me.

Thanks, Jeff. I'll have to see if a nonstop flight is worth waiting an extra day or if he'd prefer to leave the last day of the Tour but change planes in Vienna. Thanks for researching!

As Dubrovnik - Milan is a summer connection, it ends on 4 september... You could check ferry
- Dubrovnik to Bari with Jadrolinija and then train from Bari to Venice...but it will take several hours (8-10 hours)
