I keep hearing stories about big and problematic Heathrow Airport. We will be flying from Dublin on Aer Lingus to Heathrow, to pick up our flight home to the US on American Airlines. Will 2 hours allow enough time to pick up luggage and make our flight on American? These flights were purchased separately.
In my opinion - no way!
No is the answer. Personally I'd be certain to be at Heathrow 4 hours before. It is a big airport. A major transportation hub for Europe, can get very crowded and lines and waits can be long. On the other hand it's a modern airport with loads of shops, cafes, to keep you happy. Having enjoyed Eire why would you want to ruin your vacation memories by taking a chance and missing your flight back to the states? Think you need to see if you can change the Dublin flight.
The general rule of thumb is to be at Heathrow a full three hours before a flight across the Atlantic. Aer Lingus has lots of flights from Dublin to Heathrow. Take an earlier one.
Thanks. I haven't booked the Dublin flight yet, I was waiting for more information.
