Does anyone have any experience with traveling from Dublin to Cork via bus or train? The Aircoach looks promising. Not as fast as the train, but certainly economical. Thanks!
Hitchhiking is the cheapest way to go. Haven't done it Ireland in 20 years, but it is still more common and accepted there than here. http://www.digihitch.com/ftopict-1693.html
I believe Michael is pulling your leg a bit, since that link is a forum post from almost seven years ago.....
Not kidding! Sorry for the old link, but don't think things have changed much. EDIT: Here is some more recent info: http://hitchwiki.org/en/Ireland http://www.irelandlogue.com/planning-a-trip/getting-around-ireland/hitchhiking-in-ireland.html
Jim,
We are encountering a similar issue. We need to get from Dublin to Galway on the first leg of trip. My son really wants to ride the train, however, we are told the Aircoach is the same price and not as difficult to book. I look forward to seeing the advice you get.
Hi Dawn, I'll keep you "posted". I'm thinking Aircoach will be the way to go. You don't have to transfer from DUB to the train station, which is an additional plus.
Good luck!
