Has anyone driven from Varenna to Lindau? When I google Varenna to Lindau the route goes close by St Moritz through Chur. Does not look like major road. What will road conditions on route be in April? Should I go through Brenner Pass instead?

I havent driven the road through Chur recently, but when I did 10 years ago it was same as other roads I have driven in Switzerland.
No way to predict what roads will be like in April. There may still be snow in the passes, but you can ask before you enter the mountains. I had some snow in April, but the roads where clear.

you might consider train option for that part of your trip since there may still be icy conditions.

Thanks for information Carl. I am glad to know there is information about road conditions.
JS- for where are going the automatic car at 40 euro a day plus gas is cheaper than rail or airplanes but thank you for your idea rail is really easy in the area.
