Has anyone driven to Colmar? After looking at the map, it seems that the drive from Dijon to Colmar could be a bit of a hassle. We have rented a car in Tours and plan to travel thru Cognac, then to Limoges and go from Limoges to Dijon in one afternoon and then another 1/2 day to Colmar? Any thoughts?
No hassel to it. Two and a half hours, probably less, and freeway the whole way, If you have five hours to kill, go the back roads through the Vosques park (straight line through Vesoul, etc). Have a map for this one, but it's worth it. You could probably devote most of the day to the trip itself. You'll probably have your fill of Colmar in a short walk before supper.
I think the drive is easy and there are plenty of attractive villages along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed Colmar, as well, and hope you have several days to explore the town and its environs. Driving and parking in the center of town might be a bit difficult, but there are plenty of driver-friendly hotels and b&b's. There is also lots of parking available behind the train station.
Many Thanks! I am assuming that the 2.5 to 3 hours drive is the time to go from Dijon to Colmar, not from Limoges to Dijon. Wonderful people to always help us "newbies"
Limoges to Dijon is four hours and that's with only one qucik stop.
