Does anyone have any experience driving in Western Poland, e.g Szcezcin to Gorzow Wielpolski(spelling?)and vicinity? Does it make a difference which route to take from Berlin, time of day?, what are the smaller roads like, should we hire a guide, etc??

Pam, driving in western Poland does not seem to be a problem. We did it a few years ago for an afternoon to see a World War II site. The roads are not great, but certainly driveable. The only problem was at the border of Germany/Poland, which took us about a half hour each way to cross. That might have changed in the intervening years as Poland is now part of the EU.
