Will I need a permit for each city in Germany that requires them, or will one cover all the cities?

Sorry, Pat, I don't understand your question. When you say "trek" do you mean walk? By EEG what do you mean? If you are talking about the pollution sticker it will come with German registered cars and foreign cars can get it online from Tüv. One sticker valid throughout Germany. Was that your question?

Sorry, I am driving in Germany and in Rick's books he says that you need some kind of sticker to drive into Munich and Freiberg, just not if you need one for each city, or if one will work for both

The green sticker will cover all the cities that require it to drive in the inner city. Rental cars come with them.
