Driving in England

Do I need to drive to be able to go to Holtsworthy, Devon? If I do, Do they have automatic cars there? Do I need to get an international driver's license?

You can get to Holsworthy by taking a train from Paddington and changing at Exeter. At Exeter you catch the local train to Bude and at Bude you hop on a local bus for Holsworthy.

This is considerably easier than using a car. The roads in Devon are picturesque but narrow and winding. Traffic jams are frequent.

Automatic cars are available but traditionally they cost more. Rental companies tend to only offer larger cars when it comes to booking an automatic. Devon roads can be a nightmare for a first timer in a large car.

All the major car rental companies in the UK will recognise a US issue drivers licence.

Public transport is a lot easier.

Thank you, I didn't want to have to rent a car, I'm affraid of driving on the wrong side of the road and getting lost. Nidia
