Should I rent a vehicle at the Bordeaux Airport, or Bordeaux train station. How easy is it to access the road system towards Bergerac, etc. I'm guessing the train station may be a little tricker, just because its central to the city.

i rented from the train station and drove to sarlat via bergerac. it's pretty easy just follow the sign to bergerac out of bordeaux. the road is narrow (1 lane) and lower speed limit, but a beautiful drive through vinyards along the road.
You can follow the map from your rental agency, and make sure you look for signs of bergerac or the immediate town along the way next to bordeaux.
