Driving & Fuel in Spain

We're renting a car and traveling from Malaga to Granada, then Cordova and Sevilla before heading back to Malaga. Three weeks in July.

Recent news shows fuel shortages in gas stations in these areas. Also food shortages in markets because of a trucking dispute. How serious is this problem? Is relying on a car setting up an obstacle?

The truckers unions involved in the strike (representing about 12 per cent of drivers) called a "temporary" halt to their walkout Monday, so as not to further damage the economy. However, the vast majority of unions have come to a deal with the government on an aid package to cope with rising fuel prices. And the strike's effect on shipments of food and fuel was effectively ended last Wednesday when the government called out riot police to break up roadblocks. So you'll be fine.
