Is it possible to drive in the tunnel that conncets France to England? Do I need to reserve a time to drive?
The reason the can't allow you to drive through the tunnel is that in France they drive on the right, and in England they drive on the left. What you would have is a massive pileup (gridlock) in the NE tunnel and no one in the other tunnel.
You can't actually drive through the tunnel. You drive to the tunnel, then drive your car onto a train. The train then goes through the tunnel and you drive off at the other end.
You can get all the info you need here:

With nothing better to do, I checked the rate for an arbitrary date in May -- round trip cost on the train is 150 gpb.
Same dates, same car, also round trip on the Dunkerque - Dover ferry is 46 gbp.
The ferry takes two hours.
Lee just described Italy... ;)
