Hi,
Does anyone have any suggestions for travel by car from Lauterbrunnen to Nice? We have six nights to visit destinations in between in early October.
Thank you!
There are several route options, but the most direct one through Italy could take you to Lake Maggiore, Turin, and the wine region around Asti (Barolo, etc.), for example.
Or you could follow the Alps instead and head to Chamonix, then Briançon, then Nice.
What do you want to see and do?
Edit: good point from Nigel about pass closures; normally the big Alpine passes are still open in early October, but it can change in an early snow year.
different passes close on different dates and depending on weather.
There is an interactive map and normal pass open dates here
Thank you both for sharing your advice. I know that we we want to stay in Arles and Avignon based on the Rick Steve’s books, but I have no clue as to the entire 6 nights. I read briefly about Chamonix, and it seems to be a beautiful spot.
