Driving from Italy (tuscany area) to Zurich

We are planning on driving from Sienna to zurich and the Google map is showing 7 hours.. does this sound reasonable? There are 6 adults in a van and thought between all of us sharing expenses it would be cheaper than fares for train... also read about a sticker for the car needing in Switzerland...help!

7 hrs is the road time only, not including stops. You will want to avoid picking the van up in a location that will require you to drive it through the very narrow streets in many Italian towns, including Siena when you pick it up--try to stay on major highways as much as possible.

It's probably possible to do it in 7 hours but I can't imagine making the trip without some stops.

I try to keep travel time down to no more than three or four hours in a day so we don't feel like we're spending all our time in a train or car. In addition to the 3 or 4 hours on the road, you also have to plan on 1 to 2 hours of getting into/out of lodging and at least 1 hour of eating/getting gas(for your car).

On days with 3 or 4 hours of driving, I add at least one interesting stop to break up the trip.
