Driver Recommendation Venice Area!

I'm writing to call attention to Treviso Car Service mentioned in Rick's Venice book.

We're currently on a trip to celebrate our 35th anniversary in Venice. Unfortunalty, our preferred hotel was not available the entire time we wanted to be here. So, we decided to fly to Venice and go first to Verona for 3 nights. How to get there?

First thought, take the bus to Piazzale Roma then train to Verona. Rick's book lists Treviso Car Service, so I contacted them to see what they would charge to pick us up at the airport and drop us at Piazzale Roma. While I was at it I got a quote to take us all the way to Verona.

They responded with a good price and pointed out that for LESS money, they could drop us a the Mestre station - also saving us the walk from P. Roma! So we booked it.

Travel day and we managed to miss our connection at CDG. Our arrival was now going to be 11pm instead of 2:15pm! I messaged the company as soon as I knew we were not going to be on that plane but word didn't get to him before he was at the airport.

Messaged again when we knew our new details - and they were able to pick us up and take us to Verona - arriving at the hotel at 1 AM!

They was no train that late. if it wasn't for Treviso Car Service (and Rick's recommendation) we'd have spent the night at the airport or wandering the streets of Venice or??

To top it off, the driver (who was fabulous) didn't know they were in Rick Steves!

I hope Rick continues to recommend them!

You can bet that driver knows where all the radar-cameras are on the causeway that takes you out to Venice Piazzale Roma. They are set on 35 mph (approximately) and it's 4 lane on a causeway all the way. The radar doesn't give you 1 kph leeway.

Nothing worse than getting a Hertz charge for $40 a year after your trip out of nowhere. And then you get a certified letter with a ticket asking for immediate $100 payment directly wired into the City of Venice's checking account--in Euros.

Makes that driver's service look like an especially good deal. Fortunately, it's just a short ride from Venice Marco Polo Airport out to the island.

Of course, visiting Verona and Venice, we had no need of a car at all!
