Hello, we have just returned from a trip to Italy, and in Florence we hired a local driver (Mario) who took us (family of four) in his large minivan to San Gimignano for the morning....we hired Mario from 930 to 130...and he does longer "tours" as well.........he is not a tour guide, but he will drive you (and your family) to the location and then ask you to meet him at a certain time.........the cost for our "drive" was 140 Euros, and eventhough we would have enjoyed more time in San G. it was very nice to converse with him and visit another little town as our schedule was tight...I believe he also drives to Sienna and to the "Outlet" shops...(Gucci and all....I did not know there was such a thing in Italy)....but he was very nice, accomodating, good communication and well worth the experience plus we did not have to navigate through the crazy italian traffic.
