Anyone have contact info for a private driver for 4 into Rome? I'm under the impression its the same cost as a taxi, $45 Euros.
Check out romecabs.com. They will meet you at the arrivals with your name on a sign. It cost E45 back in October. When you go on the website, I think it will ask you how many people and how many pieces of luggage you'll have. They were very reliable, our flight was 3 hours late arriving and I was worried that I couldn't call them but the driver was there when we arrived!
If you're staying at hotel or private apartment ask them to arrange a driver for you. Our first time in rome was in an apartment and the rental agency arranged for the driver. It was a great decision especially for a first time visitor.
I can also highly recommend Rome Cabs. I have used them for both pick-ups and drop-off between FCO and Rome.
We loved Rome Cabs!
I just booked Rome Cabs for March 21, 2011. They asked for how many people and how much luggage, I was told E45 for two ppl and three pieces of luggage. They were very prompt in responding and confirming and told me a driver would be there with a my name on piece of paper. I, of course, used recommendations off the board here.
We also arranged for a car to pick us up at the airport through our hotel in Rome. Our flight's luggage took over an hour to show up at the baggage claim and I felt better thinking we could call the hotel in the event a driver wasn't waiting (which he was). The cost was the same as arranging it through a private company.
