Downsides to booking Virgin Atlantic flights with Skymiles

Any downsides to doing this? If we have to cancel, are the miles easily refundable/re-deposited like with Delta branded flights?

Really want to take the day flight from NYC to LON, but no Delta coded flight does this; only VA. Would book direct thru Delta website.

The only downside I have had is if you need to cancel you can’t do it online you have to call Delta. I don’t know why but I’ve never be able to cancel a virgin flight bought with miles online. But other than that it’s works great
