Has anyone recently bought a digital railcard? If so, interested in how it visually appears on your Railcard app. I chose to do this on line rather than in person to avoid the hassle of acquiring passport pics and possibly having delays at the station.
I bought it using my laptop, uploaded my pic, entered the exceedingly long passport number, etc, and my payment was successfully withdrawn. I received confirming emails including one with my download code. Then I added the Railcard app to my phone and signed in. My download code didn't work so I hit the request new code button. What I now see is my name, email address, railcard number, green dot and "active" in green for a 1 year senior rail card. What I don't see is my photo. I was expecting to see a digital reproduction of a card - what I imagine I'd get if I bought in person. Is what I have all I need? I did see a note at the start of the process stating they have high volumes - so maybe the railcard elves are still creating my digital card.
On a physical senior railcard your photograph doesn't appear either (or it doesn't on a physical railcard purchased on line then mailed out, as opposed to a digital railcard)- just name, railcard number and expiry date. That is all that is on mine.
I don't know if one purchased at a station has your photograph on or not- or if that just gets filed away somewhere.
Presumably ticket inspectors have some way to access your photograph if they doubt that it is you.
Whew! That is what I needed to know. Thank you.
My senior railcard has two screens;
1) issued to…. Valid until…view railcard
Press view railcard
2) there is my photograph, name, date of issue, QR code and reference number.
I got mine in the fall and there is a photo on my digital railcard on my iphone.
Mine is like Camborne’s. The first screen shows ”Issued to” with my name, ”Valid until” with the date, a number and ”view railcard”. When you click on ”view railcard” it takes you to an image of a railcard with my name, photo, validity date, number, and a QR code.
I just now accessed the app and requested a new code, which allowed me to see my railcard facsimile, including my picture.
I suspect it takes 24 hours or so to get full functionality.
